Mr. R.D Thulasiraj, MBA
President - Aurolab Trust, Director-Operations - AECS

Mr. Thulsiraj, with his expertise in setting up culturally relevant solutions to the problem of avoidable blindness, has served as Advisor to several national and international agencies. He has been the regional chairman of South East Asia's International Agency - Prevention of Blindness. He is a visiting Faculty of the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and many other Business schools across the world. He was instrumental in establishing a sustainable, scalable model of eye care service delivery that has since been studied and replicated by providers across the globe.

He joined Aravind Eye Hospital and Postgraduate Institute of Ophthalmology as an Administrator in 1981. He became Executive Director of Lions Aravind Institute of Community Ophthalmology in 1996.He was the President of "Vision 2020 the Right to Sight: India". Mr. R.D Thulasiraj holds his Bachelors from Madras Christian College and PGDM (MBA) from Indian Institute of Management - Kolkata. He began his career as Systems Manager in Berger paints (India) Ltd., Calcutta in June 1973.

Mr. Aravind

Dr. S. Aravind gave a special identity to the Aravind Eye Care System's sustainability through unique business model. He is one of the resource persons at Indian Institute of Management and Indian School of Business and also a mentor for MBA students of Wharton School of Business and University of Michigan. He joined Aravind Eye Hospital, Madurai as the Medical officer in 1996. Then he became administrator of Aravind Eye Hospital, Madurai in 2000. From 2008 he is one among the faculty for eye health management course in Aravind. He is the Director-Projects from 2010, which serves as a strategic direction to address the basic issues of providing eye care in the underserved regions.

Dr.Aravind Srinivasan graduated in medicine from PSG Institute of Medical Sciences, Coimbatore, South India in 1992 and completed his residency in ophthalmology and Masters in Ophthalmology from Aravind Eye hospitals and Postgraduate Institute of Ophthalmology, Madurai in 1996. He had a passion for learning management and as a result did his MBA with specialisation in Strategy from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, USA in the year 2000.

Mr.G.Srinivasan, BE

He has been a part of the Aravind Eye Care System since its inception. He is one of the founding members of Aurolab and played a key role in identifying the technology partners and significant role in transfer in technology. Now he is guiding Aurolab and Aravind Eye Care System with his experience and expertise in administration and financial aspects. With his intense knowledge in civil work he has rendered greater support in developing the infrastructure of the entire Aravind Eye care system. He was the secretary of GOVEL trust which runs Aravind Eye Hospitals. He served as the secretary of Aurolab trust from 1992. In 2006 he became the president of Aurolab Trust and now he is the president of GOVEL trust.

Mr. Govindappa Srinivasan began his career as a junior engineer in PWD, Madurai. He worked as the structural design engineer in USA and has been a partner in Asia Engineering Company. He was working as a director in GOVEL Plastics, Madras and past president of Builder's Association of India, Madurai Centre. He holds his degree in civil engineering from Alagappa Chettiar College of Engineering. He did his MS (Structure) at KANSAS State University, Manhattan, USA.

Dr.P.Namperumalsamy, MBBS, DO, MS

Dr. Namperumalsamy played an instrumental role in developing Aurolase 532 YAG Green Laser, a low cost device, for diabetic retinopathy patients which is marketed by Aurolab. The development of retinal products by the Pharmaceutical division of Aurolab is under his guidance. In 2010, TIME magazine named Dr. Nam as one of the 100 most influential people in the world. He has been awarded the prestigious Padma Shree award by the Government of India, 2006. He is internationally renowned for his pioneering work in developing the field of retina services in India.

He joined Aravind Eye Hospital and PG Institute of Ophthalmology as Chief Medical Officer in 1976. Under his chairmanship Aravind Eye Hospital received the 2010 Conrad N. Hilton Humanitarian Prize, which is awarded annually to an organisation that does extraordinary work to alleviate human suffering. He began his career as Assistant professor of Ophthalmology, Madurai Medical College in 1970. Dr. P Namperumalsamy holds his MBBS, DO, and MS from Madras University.

Dr. G Natchiar, MBBS, DO, MS

Dr.Natchiar, is responsible for steering the Aravind Eye Care System on a path of intensification and innovation over the years.She has received "Best Medico Social Worker" award from the Andhrapradesh Academy of Sciences, "Nethra Dharshini" award by Rotary club of Trichy & Srirangam, "Mehra Award" by Indian Alumni Group of ICEH, London in Konark, Orissa,"Long Time Achievement Award" by 57th Annual Conference of TNOA at Coimbatore. She has been the Adjunct Associate Professor Ophthalmology, Abraham Lincoln School of Medicine, University of IIlinois, Chicago, USA in 1981.

She joined Aravind Eye Hospital, Madurai as the Medical Officer in 1979. Then she became Professor in Ophthalmology, Aravind Eye Hospital, Madurai in 1989. In 1997 she became Joint Director of Aravind Eye Hospital, Madurai. She headed Human Resource Department, Aravind Eye Care System as Director and now is the Director Emeritus of Aravind Eye Care System. Dr.Natchiar began her career as Assistant Surgeon in the Eye Department of Government Erskine Hospital, Madurai in 1965, Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology, Madurai Medical College, Madurai in 1969, Assistant Professor of Neuro-ophthalmology, Erskine Hospital, Madurai in 1973, Dr. G Natchiar holds her MBBS, DO, MS from Madras university.

Dr. R. Kim, is known for his renowned works in the Retinal field of ophthalmology. His interest in technology and passion for ophthalmology contributed for the development of Telemedicine at Aravind Eye Care System. He is the programme director of Aravind telemedicine network. He was executive committee member of the Vitreo-Retinal Society of India from 1999 to 2001.
